Quick summary:
- Mom passed away on Feb. 24th around 1pm. I know she’s in a better place and no longer in pain, but it’s still hard. Thank goodness for friends, family, and Bruce.
- My boss got fired and somehow I’m running the store, at least in the short term. I swear I was in a similiar position about a year ago. Why does this keep happening? Honestly, even if I get an actual promotion to Store Manager, I’ll probably quit soon after as I just can’t hang with our new District Manager. He’s just… ugh.
- Bruce is coming into his own as a puppy. Which is both very good and very bad. He’s been on a hyper streak the past few days. Now that it’s warming up and he’s not chicken to walk down the front steps on his own I’m going to start taking him on longer and longer walks to get that energy out. I need to take more pics of him, now that I think of it…
I think that sums things up. Life has sucked, been crazy, been good, been depressing, been fun, been whatever.

The next two days really need to hurry up and fly by. The drive (8 hours there and then 8 hours back) is going to be hell, but I want my dog already, damnit. Hopefully I don’t go flying off of a mountain because of the snow or something…

Say hello to Bruce (aka Bubby - what the breeders named him). I’m bound and determined to get a Boston Terrier, so I sucked it up, took the rest of my tax return, and decided to buy this little guy. He’s out in Kentucky right now, which means I’ll be going 16 hours (round trip) to pick him up from his current parents. That should be a nice little adventure. At least now I’ll be able to say that I’ve been in a state that doesn’t border the Atlantic…
If something goes wrong with this puppy, I will hurt someone. Fair warning.

I give up. This is the 2nd time I’ve been defeated in my attempts to get a Boston Terrier. The runt of the litter I was set to pick from died, and as I was last in line to pick that means I got screwed. So now I’m saying fuck it and I’m willing to drive as far as Tennessee or Kentucky to get one of these damn dogs. I think I found a breeder in KY (ignore the ugliness of the page) that has pups for $400 that should be ready by this coming Friday (2/16), so I’m going to call her tomorrow and see if she still has some available. If she does, then I’m going to drive out there this coming weekend and get my dog.

In 3-4 weeks I will finally have my Boston Terrier. Woo! I was the last approved application for the batch of 8 puppies, so I got it in there in the nick of time. I have to mail off a deposit of $75 today and then pay $75 at pickup to cover all of the adoption and vet costs, but I can handle that just fine. I don’t know if I’ll be getting a boy or a girl (I’m last to pick), but that’s fine by me either way. Now to just get the house ready for our new addition…
I guess I should put aside some more money now because lord knows I’m going to crazy in the pet store in a month buying crap for this little thing.

I’ve wanted a Boston Terrier for over 2 years now, but something has always prevented me from getting one (lack of money at the time, unable to find a local breeder, none available at local shelters, etc.). While I was over at a friend’s for a Super Bowl party tonight, I played with his Boston named Roxy and it made me want one even more. What makes it worse is the fact that Roxy almost became my dog as my friend’s wife was going to make him get rid of her for nipping one of their kids on the hand, but they decided they just couldn’t give her up (and I see why - she rocks).
I did my usual web search for Bostons that I do every 1-2 months in the hope of finding one in a shelter or at a decently priced local breeder (the one local breeder I can find is in Suffolk and she wants $1500 for her dogs - no thanks!). Lo and behold, I actually found something this time. I shot off an e-mail to the lady, so here’s to hoping this will work out and I’ll finally have my dog in a month or so.
Oh, and woot for Peyton and his boys!
